Meet Evgeniya

Evgeniya Busshoff

Hi - I'm Evgeniya. I've been teaching German for over 10 years, in classrooms of 20 and 1-on-1 online, to absolute beginners and PhD students. I speak German, English, and Russian fluently, which means I can meet you wherever you are linguistically - and explain the why behind German grammar in a language you actually think in.

My lessons are CEFR-aligned (A1 to C2), but they're not one-size-fits-all. A nurse moving to Hamburg has different priorities than a student prepping the TestDaF, and the lesson plan should reflect that. Yours will.

What I bring to your lessons

  • 10+ years teaching German, ages 7 to 70
  • Linguistics background; trained in CEFR-based curriculum design
  • Trilingual: German, English, Russian
  • Methods: role-plays, real-world dialogue, multimedia, written and spoken assessments

Off the clock: hiking, reading, painting, and over-ordering at bakeries in Berlin.

What students say

Real progress, real students. Here's what learners say after working together.

I started with zero German and a job offer in Munich. Six months in, I can handle most everyday stuff at work. The lessons feel built for me, not pulled from a textbook.
Michael J.IT consultant, moved to Munich
I'd been stuck at A2 for almost a year before. Evgeniya broke down what I actually needed for the exam, gave me a plan, and I passed in three months. Worth every cent.
Natasha V.Passed B1 Goethe, 2024
Honestly the best part was the homework. Every assignment had a reason. I never felt like I was studying for the sake of studying.
John S.German for university applications
I grew up hearing German from my grandparents but never learned it properly. The lessons in English plus German helped me catch up faster than I expected.
Bob B.Heritage learner, B2

Find your level

Not sure where you fit? Most students take a quick placement chat in the free lesson call. Here's what each level looks like - and what you'll be able to do by the end of it.

A1
Absolute Beginner
By the end you can

Introduce yourself, order food, ask for directions, and handle simple everyday exchanges in German.

You'll learn

Present tense, articles (der/die/das), numbers, greetings, and ~500 essential words.

One plan, built for you

Every student is different - your goal, your schedule, your starting point. So lessons aren't sold as fixed packages with fixed prices. We talk on the free lesson call, build a plan around what you actually need, and pricing is part of that conversation.

Common questions

  • How long does it take to reach B1?

With one 60-min lesson per week plus 2 to 3 hours of homework, most students go from A1 to B1 in 9 to 12 months. Faster pace, faster progress.

  • Do you prepare students for the Goethe / telc / TestDaF exams?

Yes - exam prep is a regular request, especially at B1 (citizenship), B2 (work visas), and C1 (university admission). Tell me your test date in our lesson call and we'll work backward from it.

  • Are lessons online or in-person?

All lessons run online via Zoom. That keeps scheduling flexible and lets us work together no matter where you are.

  • How much do lessons cost?

Pricing is custom - it depends on your goal, how often we meet, and how much prep your plan needs. We'll talk through it on the free lesson call. No surprise fees, no contracts.

  • How do I pay?

By e-transfer or credit card, after each lesson or in agreed batches. No upfront commitment.

  • What if I need to reschedule?

Free reschedule with 24 hours' notice. Same-day cancellations are charged in full so the slot doesn't go to waste.

  • I haven't studied German in years - am I a beginner again?

Probably not. We'll do a quick placement in the free lesson call so you don't waste time on what you already know.

  • Do you teach kids?

Yes - all ages welcome. Lessons for younger learners are tailored to their attention span and interests, with parents kept in the loop on progress.

  • What materials will I need?

Nothing to buy. I provide all materials, custom-built around your plan.

Still deciding? The free intro call is the fastest way to get answers - no pressure, no pitch.
